Signing in

Your Bugtail account is personal: one account can belong to several organisations. Manage it under Personal settings, in the menu behind your avatar. For the security settings, Bugtail asks for your password again if you have not entered it recently.

Two-factor authentication

After your password, Bugtail can ask for a code from an authenticator app on your phone.

1. Under Personal settings > Security, choose Set up an authenticator app.
2. Scan the QR code with the app, or enter the key shown below it.
3. Enter the code the app shows, and choose Turn on.

You then get a set of recovery codes. Each one signs you in once without the app, for when your phone is lost. Keep them somewhere safe, away from your phone: they are not shown again. New recovery codes replaces the whole set.

Passkeys

A passkey signs you in with your fingerprint, your face or a security key instead of your password. Add one under Personal settings > Security with Add a passkey, and give it a name you will recognise, such as "work laptop".

On the sign-in page, choose Sign in with a passkey. A passkey skips the authenticator code: the fingerprint, face or PIN it asks for already counts as the second step.

Remove a passkey you no longer use, for example after replacing a laptop. The list shows when each one was last used.

Password

Change it under Personal settings > Security. Forgot it? Choose Forgot your password? on the sign-in page and we email you a link to set a new one.

Email address

Change it under Personal settings > Profile. The new address takes effect once you open the link we send to it; until then, you keep signing in with the old one. Keep my current address cancels the change.

Language

Your language setting under Personal settings > Profile decides the language of the dashboard for you. Each organisation also has a language, used for its alert emails and invoices.
